Overview

   The SBUH & HSC 802.11b/g Wireless Network was designed to allow seamless and secure access to academic and clinical resources throughout the institution. It has been fully implemented thoughout the hospital. Select locations in the Health Sciences Center (HSC), Basic Sciences Tower (BST), and remote sites (Ambulatory Surgery Center, Technology Park, South Campus, etc.) are also covered by the same secure wireless network. You only need to setup your wireless device according to our instructions and you should be able to access the wireless network from all the locations listed in the "LOCATIONS & COVERAGE" below.

ACCOUNT REQUIREMENTS

·  STUDENTS: Students need to have a valid HSLIB domain account; all East Campus students are automatically given HSLIB accounts upon enrollment in Stony Brook. If you do not have one, please visit the HSC Library Computer Lab. Click here for instructions.

·  FACULTY/STAFF/CONSULTANTS: Faculty, Staff, & Consultants need to have a valid UHMC domain account; if you do not have one, you will need to fill out and submit the Network Account Maintenance form (online form).

LOCATIONS & COVERAGE

Currently, 802.11b/g wireless network coverage is available in the following locations:

• Ambulatory Care Pavillion: All areas
• Ambulatory Surgery Center: All areas
• BST Floors 5 & 6: All areas
• Clark House: Basement
• Clinical Informatics: Annex A, B, and C
• HSC L-1: All areas
• HSC L-2: Lecture Halls 1 thru 4, Pathology Labs, Cafe
• HSC L-3: Lecture Halls 5 thru 6, HSC Library, Emergency Medicine, IT Infrastructure, Galleria
• HSC L-4: Deans Suite / Office of the Vice President, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine
• HSC T-18: Orthopaedics Conference Room
• HSC T-19: Surgery Conference Room
• South Campus (Dental School): Learning Center, Student Lounge (Rm 134), and Lecture Rooms 195 & 196 and Room 111
• SBUH: All floors, all areas
• Tech Park Bldg #6: OB/GYN areas
• Tech Park Bldg #8: Medical Records area
• Tech Park Bldg #24: All areas
• Tech Park Bldg #26: All areas (SBUH and DCI)
• Tech Park Bldg #31: All areas
• Tech Park Bldg #33: Ophthalmology area
• Tech Park Bldg #37: All areas
• Tech Park Bldg #181: Dermatology area
• Tech Park Bldg #188: Office of Communications area
• Tech Park Bldg #205: All areas + BioMed (basement)

NETWORK RULES

1. You must have an antivirus & antispyware program with the latest updates installed on your computer;
2. You must update your computer with the latest security patches for your operating system;
3. Using your computer as a server or access point is NOT allowed;
4. Malicious use of any network tools on these wireless networks is NOT allowed;
5. Attempts to circumvent any security in place on the wireless networks are NOT allowed.

Failure to abide by these rules will result in the revocation of wireless network privileges as well as appropriate action against such violation(s).

If you agree to these rules, you may proceed to the next section below otherwise please exit the wireless network.
